A native Angeleno, Lainey got her BS from California State Northridge and has been involved in southern California education ever since. She served on the Tustin Public Schools Foundation Board from 1998-2000. She has also spent many years on the Temple Beth Sholom Sisterhood Executive board in several capacities.
She is married and a proud parent of 3 children, including one dynamo daughter who serves on the Bureau weekend staff.
