BJE CEO/Executive Director Job Description
Program development and maintenance
- Supervises and evaluates all programs and services provided by the agency.
- Establishes, maintains and enhances partnerships with Jewish educators and Jewish educational institutions, working with the various community, educational and religious institutions to help them support, adopt and utilize the agency’s programs.
- Initiates cooperative programs and activities with other community agencies.
- Stays current on trends in education, with particular emphasis on Jewish education.
Community outreach
- Provides educational leadership for the community. Ensures community focus on education for youth and families.
- Establishes, maintains and enhances relationships with individual community leaders to promote the work of the agency.
- Establishes and maintains contacts with various Jewish educational movements, locally and nationally.
Fund-raising
- With the Board, establishes a fund-raising plan for the agency and supervises its implementation.
- Oversees preparation of applications for grants to philanthropic foundations and agencies.
Administration
- Directs the overall operations of the agency, including recruiting and retaining staff.
- Prepares the agency’s annual budget and closely monitors the fiscal affairs of the agency, working with the Finance committee..
- Prepares proposals, reports, and agenda recommendations for committees and the Board.
- Works with the Board to develop, maintain and implement a Strategic Plan. Develops and recommends long and short range strategies to meet the overall objectives of the agency.
- Assists in recruiting Board candidates and involving Board members in agency and community activities.
Other
Performs any and all other functions as directed by the Board.
